Chazy was first settled in 1790, and became a township in the year 1804. Some of Chazy's early settlers were Nathaniel and John Douglass, Ezra Graves and Lester Sampson.

Chazy Landing was first settled in 1783. Early settlers were Jean La Framboise, Joseph Monty, Timothy Sullivan and Matthew Saxe.
